The advice below is a guide to which clinician is most appropriate to consult for a range of tests, illnesses and chronic conditions. Please be assured that all staff are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the doctors.
Please Note: A Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse who has completed advanced education to a minimum of a master's degree and has had extensive training in the diagnosis and management of common medical conditions, including chronic illnesses.

Advice
Pharmacists can offer advice and guidance both over the phone and through face to face consultations. They can help you by answering any question you may have about medication and also triaging and advising on minor ailments such as colds, skin complaints, IBS, worms, head lice, hay fever, conjunctivitis and thrush.
Smear Tests

To ensure that your smear test is most effective, try to book an appointment during the middle of your menstrual cycle (usually 14 days from the start of your last period), as this can ensure a better sample of cells is taken. If you use a spermicide, a barrier method of contraception or a lubricant jelly, you shouldn't use these for 24 hours before the test, as the chemicals they contain may affect the test.
